This wonderful safety bicycle is a Humber, I photographed it in the Coventry Transport Museum. I could not find it in any Humber catalogue, but the label on the bicycle tells us it is a Humber from the Beeston factory, built in 1891.
Radically different from the earlier models of Humber. like the 1889 model with socket head.
This bicycle originally comes from the collection of H.W. Bartleet, one of the earliest bicycle collectors. . It is mentioned in his famous Bartleet's Bicycle Book where the author tells us there is a Humber transfer on the down tube.
I didn't see the transfer. But it is a wonderful cycle with a peculiar off-set head. If anyone has an advertisement or Humber catalogue in which this model is mentioned, please let me know.
